Travel platform: Concur’s 2-factor Authentication and Password Updates

Is your Company Ready for Concur’s 2-factor Authentication and Password updates?

As your TMC partner, we want to proactively update you on the changes coming to your Concur online booking tool.  Please know we are here to support you with any questions you may have in the coming weeks.

SAP Concur Changes
2 Factor Authentication/Password requirements:

As a part of security features upgrade Concur plans to implement mandatory two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users who are using basic authentication (username and password) on web or mobile. Users that access Concur Travel via SSO without a password required will not be impacted by the new 2FA requirements.

Concur plans to implement this in two phases: Phase 1 on October 18 and Phase 2 on November 15.

Phase 1 (valid email address in profile NOT REQUIRED)–October 18 to November 14

  • During this time, users will receive a prompt to set up 2FA when logging in using basic authentication (username and password).
  • Although valid email address is not required for this phase, it is required effective November 15, at which time if a user doesn’t have a valid email address, they will not be able to log into Concur.

Phase 2 (valid email address in profile REQUIRED)–November 15 ongoing

  • All users must have a valid email address in the first email field in their traveler profile to receive a link to setup 2FA
  • In addition to 2FA, there will be a new password policy enhancement where users will be required to reset their passwords to be compliant with Concur’s new minimum standard.

NOTE: If you have multiple logins for Concur Travel, the enrollment process is required for each credential.

Impact to End Users:

  • End users will be required to enroll in 2FA during the sign in process beginning October 18. This will require them to have an authenticator app on their mobile phone or via browser extension.
  • After successful registration, end users will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code generated by their authenticator app. This process will be in place for all subsequent logins.
  • Concur suggests the following authenticator apps: Twilio Authy Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Microsoft Authenticator, and Google Authenticator.
  • If an end user does not have a mobile phone or does not want to download an authenticator app on their mobile phone, they can use an authenticator app on their browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Action required:

  • Travel Managers should contact their IT department and confirm which authenticator app(s) end users should download ahead of time.

More information will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Last month Adelman’s NPS Score reaches near 90!

NPS Score:

Corporate travelers give a rating between 0 (not at all likely) and 10 (extremely likely) and, depending on their response, customers fall into one of 3 categories to establish an NPS score:

  • Promoters respond with a score of 9 or 10 and are typically loyal and enthusiastic customers.
  • Passives respond with a score of 7 or 8. They are satisfied with your service but not happy enough to be considered promoters.
  • Detractors respond with a score of 0 to 6. These are unhappy customers who are unlikely to buy from you again and may even discourage others from buying from you.

To calculate our final NPS score – the system subtracts the percentage of Detractors from the percentage of Promoters. For example, if 10% of respondents are Detractors, 20% are Passives and 70% are Promoters, Adelman’s NPS score would be 70-10 = 60.

NPS stands for Net Promoter Score which is a metric used in customer experience programs. NPS measures the loyalty of customers to a company. NPS scores are measured with a single-question survey and reported with a number from the range -100 to +100, a higher score is desirable.

NPS® is often held up as the gold standard customer experience metric. It measures customer perception based on one simple question: “How likely is it that you would recommend Adelman Travel to a friend or colleague?”

Travel with Confidence: Allianz Travel Insurance

Reimbursement for trips cut short and unplanned travel costs

While reimbursement for covered trip cancellation is usually the top-of-mind travel insurance benefit for most travelers, Allianz Travel Insurance offers much more value beyond that. For example, it can provide benefits in case a vacation gets interrupted for many covered reasons including family medical emergencies back home and certain inclement weather events that were unnamed at the time the plan was purchased. For cruisers relying on safe weather conditions, this is a particularly valuable benefit to have. It can also be extremely helpful if a traveler’s flight to their cruise embarkment is cancelled or delayed, causing them to miss part of their cruise. Even if a traveler has a covered travel delay that does not cause them to miss any cruise time but does necessitate extra meals or accommodations while awaiting departure, travel delay benefits can reimburse them for these types of unplanned costs.

Protections for precious cargo

Insured travelers can also feel more secure knowing they have protection for lost, stolen, damaged, or delayed personal belongings—meaning they can be reimbursed for replacement items they need to buy if something happens to their belongings while traveling

Valuable benefits for medical mishaps

Another important reason to protect your trip with Allianz Travel Insurance is the emergency medical benefit and emergency medical transportation benefit, which can save you thousands if you have a medical emergency whether traveling domestically or internationally. The emergency medical transportation benefit can pay for a ground or air ambulance to the nearest appropriate medical facility, having a loved one transported to the insured traveler’s bedside, and for transportation back home after such an event.

Expert travel assistance 24/7

Whether or not you have an emergency while traveling, Allianz Travel Insurance gives you access to round-the-clock expert travel assistance that can support you through most any travel challenge, such as replacing a lost passport or forgotten prescription, providing translation services, following up on medical care, and much more.

Start planning your next adventure with more peace of mind. Ask your Adelman vacation advisor for details on Allianz Travel Insurance plans, even if you have already booked your trip.

Americans Will Need to Apply Online to Enter Europe Starting in 2024.

United States passport holders have long traveled throughout most of the world without having to worry about visa applications: American travelers currently have visa-free access to 184 destinations worldwide, according to this year’s Henley Passport Index, which ranked the U.S. passport as the eighth most powerful in the world. But that’s set to change next year, as the European Union prepares new travel document requirements for American tourists.

The new regulations are called the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). When the system launches in early 2024, it will require all visitors who currently travel to Europe visa-free, such as citizens from the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, to apply for travel authorization and receive approval prior to their departure.

ETIAS is not a visa in the traditional sense; it only requires a quick online application, with approval delivered via email. In order to receive authorization, visitors must fill out an online form providing details about their basic biographical information, travel plans and travel history, as well as other security questions.

Most applicants will be granted travel authorization within an hour, but if further checks are required, the process could take up to 96 hours. Once approved, this authorization is valid for multiple entries over the course of three years, or until the traveler’s passport expires.

Application Process

The European Travel Information and Authorization System is not your traditional visa. It’s a straightforward online application process with approval delivered by email. Travelers will need to fill out an online form with basic biographical information, travel plans and travel history, along with security questions. While most applicants will receive approval within an hour, some may experience a wait of up to 96 hours for further checks. The cost of the application is approximately $8, applicable to travelers of all ages. Once approved, the travel authorization will be valid for multiple entries over three years or until the traveler’s passport expires.

At the moment, the exact date when the new travel authorization will become a requirement is still unclear. Adelman will provide additional details to our customers upon learning more updates.

A full recovery of the air travel industry

IATA’s comparison of the connectivity levels observed in Q2 2019 and Q2 2023 shows how close to full recovery the global aviation industry has come.

A number of countries in Central America, Asia and Africa have already reached the Q2 2019 connectivity levels.

🌍 The recovery in Europe has been mixed, with countries such as Germany, Finland and Sweden staying below the 80% connectivity level. This can be linked to some shifts to short haul travel patterns, and also disruption related to the closure of Russian airspace to European airlines.

🌍 A particularly strong performance has been seen in Africa, where the connectivity of a number of countries now exceeds that of 2019.

Regent Seven Seas announces new culinary experiences to celebrate inaugural Alaska season

Regent Seven Seas Cruises® recently announced a new collection of authentic and immersive culinary experiences as part of its Epicurean Perfection program to celebrate Seven Seas Explorer’s® inaugural season in Alaska.

The three carefully curated Epicurean Explorer Tours and three new Culinary Arts Kitchen classes will be themed around the cuisine of the Pacific Northwest. Highlights on land include a visit to a sustainable oyster and kelp farm, a catamaran ride through a glacier carved fjord to a sustainable wild Alaska salmon hatchery and plenty of opportunities to sample local delights such as a seafood and artisan crafted beers pairing lunch.

New classes on board showcase recipes from dishes found in the Vancouver BC and Seattle area, how to make sustainable seafood selections, and for the first time ever, the Culinary Arts Kitchen team, led by Chef Kathryn Kelly, Executive Chef Director of Culinary Enrichment for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, has designed a class specifically for 6–16-year-olds.

Seven Seas Explorer will be the most luxurious ship in Alaska with 15, 7-night sailings between Seward, Alaska and Vancouver, British Columbia. From June to September 2023, the ship will provide the highest standards of service to no more than 746 discerning guests in exquisite restaurants and lavishly appointed suites as they explore Alaska at its wild, blossoming best, cruising the cliffs and waterfalls of the Misty Fjords, the colorful legends of Skagway, and the possibility to gaze in awe as Hubbard Glacier sheds enormous blocks of ice into the sea.

“Our new collection of culinary experiences for Seven Seas Explorer’s inaugural Alaska season is rooted in topics that are important to our guests,” said Kathryn Kelly. “We invite our guests to explore The Last Frontier by way of learning sustainable fishing and aquaculture, mastering fish cooking in our hands-on cooking school and understanding the authentic culinary traditions of the indigenous peoples and immigrants living in the majestic region of Alaska.”

Highlights of the new Epicurean Explorer Tours and Culinary Arts Kitchen Classes

Epicurean Explorer Tours

Guests may learn how conditions affect oysters and kelp by tasting them. After a visit to the farm, participants return to the Culinary Arts Kitchen for a 90-minute class covering seven culinary techniques for flawless fish cookery at home.

Sitka
This tour is an immersion into the salmon industry in Alaska. On the way to a local fish hatchery, guests will pass many of the scenic highlights of the historic Silver Bay region. Enjoy a covered catamaran ride through a glacier carved fjord to arrive at the sustainable wild Alaska salmon hatchery for an immersion into all things Alaska salmon. The tour concludes with a seafood-centric lunch at an in-town restaurant hosted by a famed local chef.

Regent have curated a tour in Juneau that combines a scenic tour of the surrounding beauty with a tasty lunch of local seafood paired with artisan crafted beers. Hosted by one of our chef instructors as well as a renown local chef, guests will enjoy a relaxed visit to Juneau while learning about the seafood industry and the local passion for craft beers. The tour ends with a guided tour of the local town pointing out gourmet shops with delectable smoked salmons to take home to remember an unforgettable day.
